The Mist by MadMacs2010 (18-6-13)
I sit
I am aware
Around me the world turns
I sit
The island I sit on is covered with grass
It’s not a very big island, barely large enough for me
I sit
The lake around my island is calm, like a mirror.
The lake must be warmer than the air as there is a mist above the lake
I sit
Life goes on around me, I can see my family and my work mates speaking to me
The lake is too large for the sounds to reach me quickly
People are asking me questions
They need the answers from me, but those answers are in a filing cabinet on the far side of the lake.
I sit
I worry
The people have given up asking me for the answers and have gone to the filing cabinet themselves
The people look at me
The people look down on me; they used to look up to me
I sit
On my island
In the mist
I scream at the mist
The silence screams back
I stand
I want to cross the lake but I can’t
I see My Love, she looks at me, there is a sadness in her eyes
I want to cross the lake, but I don’t know how
I sit
I cry
I have been left behind
